Dance the night away in this spectacular Smooth MV style ballroom dress! Firstly, the dress starts with a sheer black mesh. The mesh forms the shoulders and long sleeves. Secondly, a black nylon fabric creates the bodice. It is form-fitting, with plenty of stretch. The back of the dress has a v-neckline, making the top half of the back open. Thirdly, the skirt has several godets featuring a silk fabric. The silk fabric has a print featuring white circles and a sheer black background. Since the fabric is sheer, you can see a second silk fabric underneath, featuring an even larger polka dot print. The skirt is full and voluminous, made up of several layers as well as horsehair hem. Lastly, the dress has built-in bra cups and a bodysuit.

Between the silk skirt and the embellishments, this MV style ballroom dress boasts of luxury. Top of the line European crystals create an elegant motif on the bodice. Rows of AB and Jet Hematite (charcoal gray) crystals trace the neckline. Likewise, AB crystals form a design on the front and back necklines. They mimic the circles on the skirt, and are connected with lines in shapes similar to a “V.” Additional Jet Hematite crystals fill in the the sparkly print. On the rest of the bodice, Jet (black) crystals add extra shine!

With nostalgia on the rise, old-school standbys are having a moment. So it’s about time that the polka dot made a comeback. Only this polka is not your evenly-spaced, impeccably spherical dot print. For a crash course on the polka dot renaissance, we studied Erdem’s spring catwalk. A midnight skirt suit with white baubles kicked off the runway. A cascading skirt juxtaposed the structured jacket, and polka dots enlivened the shape as a whole. From there, the polka devolved, morphing into floral microprints and geometric piping. From solstice-esque circles to asymmetrical flowers, find a polka dot that rings true to you, and relish in the trompe l’oeil effect as you whirl and twirl.
